💉Who Is Eligible for a Free Flu Vaccine?

Under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), the following groups are eligible for a free flu vaccine:

• Children aged 6 months to under 5 years

• Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)

• Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over

• People aged 65 years and over

• Individuals aged 6 months and over with medical conditions that increase their risk of severe influenza, such as:

  • Chronic respiratory conditions (e.g., severe asthma)

  • Cardiac disease

  • Diabetes

  • Chronic neurological conditions

  • Immunocompromising conditions

  • Chronic kidney or liver diseases

  • Haematological disorders

  • Children aged 5 to 10 years on long-term aspirin therapy

If you're not eligible for a free vaccine, private flu vaccines are available for purchase.
